In October 1971, Pau Casals received the medal of peace of the United Nations.
He played the melodie of a Catalan folk song: “El cant dels ocells”.
When the birds sing, theirs is a song of peace.
This is a music which Bach, Beethoven and the other great masters admired and loved.
It is born of the soul of my people: Catalonia.
