Missing in Me

Manifestation terminée

This is the story of Samira and Millie, two sisters brought up in wealth but desperately lacking love.

“Missing in Me” is a new play devised by BackYard Theatre Ensemble and Joachim Matschoss, with music by Ross Brooks and Matthew Ganton, which will premiere in Melbourne, Australia. Similar to Commedia dell’arte, “devised theatre” involves an improvisational creation process whereby a script originates from collaborative, usually improvisatory, work by a group of people (writer, director, performers, etc.)

The play tells the story of Samira and Millie, two sisters brought up in wealth but desperately lacking love. It centres around Samira, who has just finished her schooling and tries to make sense of what lies ahead. Exploring the themes of identity, parent-child relationships and love, the play looks at what it means to be young in today’s world. Part-comic, moving and thought-provoking, it includes soundscapes and original songs.

“Missing in Me” is directed by BackYardTheatreEnsemble, an Australian independent company presenting theatre by and for young people. Working with both adult and young performers, their focus is on creating original plays and providing opportunities for local actors to get involved with ensemble productions in venues across Melbourne, parts of Australia, and internationally. The BackYardTheatreEnsemble offers masterclasses and workshops at the national and international level, leads playwriting workshops and commissions original works.
